First weeks of school!!!

We had an exciting start to the new school year with new friends and a new classroom. The pupils were curious to see their new classroom and to try all the different pedagogical material. The first two weeks we focused on getting to know each other and our new routines. The pupils were introduced to their weekly classroom responsibilities, such as table monitoring or snack box tasks. The first week we did some fun team building games outside with our parallel upper pre-primary class (Miss Mia’s class). The children really enjoyed the ‘Parachute’ and the ‘What time is it Mr Wolf’ games.

Our first sport lesson with Mr Francis was exciting and fun. He showed them some fun new games and the routines of the sports hall.

The new pupils were welcomed at the first assembly of the year. They got a welcome diploma and we all got to sing songs and meet our lovely music teacher Ms Sterre.

There have already been four birthday celebrations in class. It's been great fun for all of us and especially for the children who had their birthday this month. The birthday pupils got to make a nice crown to wear on their special day. Happy Birthday to Suzumi, Abrar, Rayaan and Lexie!

All pupils have enjoyed working with literacy and numeracy. They have been focused, curious and working hard with everything that has been introduced to them. One day some of the pupils saw a rainbow on their way to school. We talked about the colours of the rainbow and why they appear. To explain how the rainbow appears we did an experiment with a light and a prism, which really activated their imagination. The children ended the day by painting their own rainbows on paper.

We had a lovely entry point circle time in which the pupils could ‘show and tell’ what they brought from their home. Later the children decorated our ‘classroom home’ with the objects. We played and discovered the new role-playing area together. The two first weeks of our unit (Family and Friends) has been about where we come from, our country and our continent. We are creating flags and a world map with the continents in focus. We will put our world map on display in the hallway showing where we are from and in which country we are living now. Please come and have a look!

September has been a fun and busy month and we are all excited to continue exploring and learning together.

Have a lovely weekend!

Mr Michael
