During their Unit of Inquiry “Pull You Push Me”, our young learners from lower primary explored forces through hands-on STEM learning with GraviTrax! GraviTrax is a marble run system where marbles move mainly due to gravity (a pulling force), but it also includes special components that create push forces in different ways. For example, some pieces use magnetic forces to give the marble a boost, others use a catapult or spring mechanism to push the marble forward, and some elements create a push through impact, such as when a heavier marble hits another to set it in motion. The children worked in stations with different challenges to complete. They collaborated in teams, and each member had a specific role: builder, tester, and pieces master. These roles rotated after each completed challenge, ensuring that everyone had the opportunity to participate in different ways. The class was highly engaged and curious as they explored and solved their marble run challenges.
