Middle Years Programme
Guided by our core values of positivity, open-mindedness, and ambition, our school fosters a close-knit community where every student is supported, inspired, and encouraged to achieve their fullest potential. Designed to nurture curiosity, our curriculum develops critical thinking and a love of learning.
Foundations of the curriculum
The MYP curriculum is grounded in conceptual understanding, encouraging students to explore concepts as a way to inquire into issues and ideas of personal, local, and global importance. The IB learner profile outlines key attributes we strive for daily: inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced, and reflective.
A key aspect of the MYP is the consistent use of approaches to learning (ATL) across all subject groups. Teachers foster the development of essential skills—social, thinking, research, communication, and self-management—that enable students to apply their knowledge in new contexts and become lifelong learners. To spark student learning, each unit begins with a statement of inquiry, helping guide students in exploring and understanding key concepts.

Subject Domains
The Middle Years Programme (MYP) offers a rigorous and engaging framework designed to connect classroom learning with the real world. This broad and balanced approach aims to develop well-rounded, active learners who are critical thinkers, curious explorers, and open-minded young adolescents. Through the MYP, students are encouraged to make meaningful connections across disciplines, fostering intellectual growth and preparing them for future challenges.

Assessment
In the MYP, assessment is based on specific criteria with eight achievement levels, divided into four bands: limited (1-2), adequate (3-4), substantial (5-6), and excellent (7-8). These bands guide teachers in making “best-fit” judgments about students’ progress.
Assessment includes both formative (ongoing) and summative (end-of-learning process) methods, such as tests, projects, and presentations. Years 3 and 5 require specific assessments to measure student progress at key stages.
At our school, regular feedback is a cornerstone of the learning process. Teachers provide continuous, constructive feedback, helping students understand their strengths and areas for growth. This ongoing dialogue empowers students to reflect on their progress, set realistic goals, and make improvements. We believe that timely and actionable feedback is essential for fostering a growth mindset, ensuring that students remain motivated and supported throughout their learning journey.

Service & Personal Projects
Our students participate in a Service Project every year, where they actively contribute to their community and the environment. Through research, planning, action, and reflection, students develop key skills such as leadership, empathy, and global responsibility. Specific service requirements are communicated each year to guide their involvement.
In MYP 5, students complete the Personal Project, allowing them to explore a topic they are passionate about. This independent project deepens their knowledge, refines their skills, and serves as a culmination of their MYP learning.
Our Service Action Programme and the Personal Project in MYP 5 encourage students to connect their learning to the real world, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and social responsibility.
