Practical Information

Daily Schedule

Days follow a fairly set routine for all children, with slight differences between Pre-Primary, Primary, and ISG+. Our school building opens at 8:00. Children can enter the classrooms from 8:30 and lessons start at 9:00. The school day finishes at 15:30, and 12:00 on Wednesdays. After school care is available every day until 17:30.

Outdoor breaks

Break times are essential for students to recharge between lessons. During breaks, they can play with sport equipment, play on our grass area, dig in the sandpit, or explore in our little forest!

There are two covered areas outside that allow the children to go outside and get some fresh air and play, even during wet weather.

It is important to ensure that children wear suitable clothes for outdoor play throughout the year. (This includes items such as a warm coat, rain coat, hat or a cap, gloves or mittens, and a scarf.)

Lunches & Snacks

We promote healthy eating habits at ISG. Students enjoy a snack from home during their morning break, and can choose to bring a lunch from home, or enjoy a hot lunch.

ISG has a water only policy; students are required to bring their own reusable water bottle to keep themselves hydrated throughout the day. We also prohibit sweets, chocolates, and fizzy drinks.

You can click the button below to read more about our Snack & Lunch policies at ISG, and about ordering hot lunches.

School Supplies

Please see below for the school supplies for each level, plus Sports and Swim kits. Please ensure that all of your child’s belongings are labeled.

In general, Primary students are not permitted to bring their mobile phones to school. Those students in Upper Primary who bring their phone to school (if they travel alone to and from school) are required to give their phone to the class teacher on arrival. ISG+ students may bring their mobile phones, but they must be kept in their classroom’s phone holder during lessons during the school day.

Staying connected

We value strong, open communication between home and school. Parents are welcome to have brief check-ins with classroom teachers before or after school, and longer meetings can be scheduled if needed to discuss matters in more detail. We organise parent-teacher meetings in October and March to discuss your child’s progress.

In our Pre-Primary and Primary School, teachers use Seesaw to share classroom updates and communicate with parents. In the Secondary School, communication with teachers takes place through the Toddle platform.

“As an international family, we are so happy to have ISG. It gives us everything we need. After joining ISG, we entered a vibrant global community of expat parents that made our adaptation to Belgium more swift.”
– Feedback from the Prieto and Cherviatsova family
