Why Choose ISG?

Families choose ISG for different reasons! If you’re moving to East or West Flanders for work, enrolling your child at ISG will provide them with a warm and welcoming learning environment. We understand that relocating to a new country can be challenging, and ensuring a smooth school transition is a top priority for parents. At ISG, your child will quickly feel at home, making friends with classmates from all over the world while thriving in a supportive and engaging setting. We believe that diversity brings us together, and we strive to make every child excited to come to school each day.

More and more Belgian families are also choosing an international English-language education for their children. Some families enrol their child at ISG for a year (or longer) to build their English skills, develop international-mindedness, and experience a dynamic approach to learning. Children who have been accelerated in their local school can join ISG for an extra challenge. Families planning for a move abroad enrol their child at ISG to learn English, and those returning from overseas can enrol at ISG to ensure continuity in their child’s education.

Small class sizes

Our small class sizes ensure that our teachers truly get to know each child—their strengths, areas where they may need extra support, and when they would benefit from an extra challenge. With fewer students in each class, we can use a variety of teaching approaches, including pair work, cooperative group tasks, individual learning time, and whole-class instruction.

For children learning English, a smaller class environment also provides plenty of opportunities to practice speaking and develop their language skills in a supportive setting.

Personalised support

We recognize that every child learns in their own way, which is why we provide personalised support to help each student thrive. Our specialized learning support teacher offers targeted pull-out sessions for those needing extra help, while our class assistants provide additional support within the classroom. Teachers plan differentiated learning tasks where necessary to cater to different levels of English and individual learning needs, ensuring that every child is both challenged and supported.

Focus on well-being

A happy child is a thriving learner! We prioritise well-being by creating a supportive, inclusive environment where every child feels safe, valued, and heard. We help children build confidence, resilience, and positive relationships and ensure they enjoy coming to school each day.

Dedicated teachers

Our team of dedicated teachers have a wealth of International teaching experience bringing a range of perspectives and expertise to the classroom. They are dedicated to creating engaging and personalized learning experiences that support each child’s growth. Come and meet the teachers during a visit to our school!

Close-knit community

Our strength is in our diversity! Representing over 35 different nationalities, students and parents alike feel at home within the international community at ISG. Parents have opportunities to meet other parents and get involved in organising school events. We host coffee mornings where parents can chat and get to know each other, and we even have a weekly parent fitness class!

“Open and friendly atmosphere. Individual approach for your child. You can see that the children, parents and teachers are happy. The staff put your child first, which is not the case at every school. High standard of teaching. Small groups and staff care. Sending our children to this school was the best thing we could do for them as parents in Ghent. High standard of education and happy atmosphere!”
