Welcome to the inaugural edition of MP2: Chocolate and Brains! This term, we warmly welcomed all our students, both new and returning, along with our intern Ms. Eva, who joins us from Spain.
Our year kicked off with the Brainwave: Metacognition unit, where we explored growth mindsets, learning processes, and ways to strengthen our brains. In writing, we took a creative journey back in time to imagine school life as our parents experienced it.
Our next IPC unit was a delicious one—chocolate! We kicked off with a visit to the Botanical Gardens, where we studied the cacao tree and its unique climate needs, while in history, Middle Primary students wrote and performed a play about chocolate’s fascinating past. We also explored the concept of Fairtrade with a visit to the Oxfam shop, where we learned about the importance of fair trade practices and saw a variety of Fairtrade items. In art, we made our own chocolate and designed wrappers, selling our tasty creations and donating the proceeds to Oxfam.
In literacy and numeracy, students have been making impressive strides, building foundational skills and confidence, and becoming more independent learners. We certainly have a lot to be proud of, keep up the great work Middle Primary!
Finally, we wrapped up the Halloween season with a costume party. Students came dressed in creative costumes, and we celebrated the last day before break with a festive parade, craft activities, and games.
Enjoy your week off, and see you back at ISG in November!
Warm regards,
Ms. Kelsey and Ms. Anelda
