Monday afternoon in Primary

Today is Monday, June 3rd 2013.

We now have had most of the lessons today, this the very first Monday in the month of June. School ends on Friday June 28th, so we don't have that many days to go now. Summer holiday is getting closer! We still have many things to learn, though, and lots of challenges, before we can relax and start the holiday! Our teacher just handed out our homework. This week, we have numeracy (basic facts and measure length), literacy (spelling words, books to read and texts to work with), but this week we don't have any IPC. It takes some time to glue the homework sheets into the homework book, since we all have different homework assignments, because we are of different ages and we don't know the same things, or speak English on the same level. It is always interesting to compare your homework with your neighbour, and see what he or she has to work with during the week! This week pupils are working with "shorter/taller", "estimate length" and "perimeter and area" - so the homework often challenges the same area, but at different levels.

After putting the homework in our bags, we can sit down and read for a little while. This Monday we could choose if we wanted to read or if we wanted to continue working with an art assignment, where we used a technique called "quilling". Some of us really liked to try this new technique, while others found it a bit more challenging. Some of us enjoyed sitting down on the carpet, with a book in our hand, and just read quietly for a few minutes. We were quite tired today, so we really enjoyed the calm end of this Monday!

Greetings from Primary

PS. If you are curious, the green plants that grow in the middle of the classroom, are the white beans that we planted a few weeks ago! They have grown a lot since we put the small beans in the soil! The longest beanstalk now starts to reach up towards the ceiling.
