Funky hat day!

Last week was once again filled with lots of clothes activities.

We started the week  making a large collage of the Emperor from the story of ‘The Emperor’s new clothes’. Each child took it in turn to glue pieces of material on the Emperor. The finished work is super, the children did a great job in making him look very royal in his lavish clothes!

The children have also been practicing counting up to 50 with our small items of clothes that are numbered. As you can see they are enjoying themselves.

The clothes shop has been a great success . Everybody loves to be the shopkeeper receiving lots of money from the customers.

The children also tie dyed pieces of material to make their own scarfs. They were a little confused why they had to tie string around them and were even more  curious to see how they would look after being overnight in the dye. The following day each child ironed their own scarf (of course with Miss Mia’s assistance!).

Thank you for all the lovely hats you sent in for our funky hat day, there were some very creative hats indeed.

Here the children have placed their hats on the table to do some concentrated work with our addition strip boards.

And finally our trip to the fashion museum ‘Momu’ in Antwerp was a very enjoyable visit. There was a special exhibition about clothes and feathers. We say some beautiful clothes made and decorated with feathers. The children had to do different assignments  where they earned feathers to decorate a little bird ‘Papua’. At the end of the visit, to the children’s delight ,our guide gave is the little bird to bring to our school. Go to the Photo gallery to see more photos of our trip to the museum.
